Flood Response

Due to the momentum of a depression forming in the Bay of Bengal and a strong monsoon, continuous heavy rain has fallen in Rakhine State from July 4 until today. Because of the river flooding, the water levels of the Kaladan and Lay Mro rivers have exceeded their critical danger marks. Driven by the heavy rainfall and rising river and creek levels, flooding is occurring in at least 8 townships, including Paletwa, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, and Minbya. Consequently, no fewer than 70,000 people are facing the dangers of floods and landslides.

Triple-T is currently providing emergency aid and support to about 10 villages in Minbya Township, one of the areas facing floods and landslides where humanitarian assistance has not yet arrived.

Operating primarily in non-SAC controlled areas, Triple-T delivers life-saving support to communities affected by armed conflict, displacement, disasters and humanitarian emergencies. Through strong community networks and partnerships with local stakeholders, Triple-T ensures that assistance reaches populations with limited access to humanitarian services.
